From a sketch to a drawing package you can build from.
I'm a mechanical design engineer. My day job is designing custom automation machines. I also take on outside SOLIDWORKS work for shops, manufacturers and hardware startups.
What I can take off your plate
Fixed-price quotes. You get native SOLIDWORKS files plus whatever formats your shop or vendor needs.
| Service | What it covers | You get |
|---|---|---|
Sketch to drawingFor job shops and fabricators |
A napkin sketch, a photo or a worn-out part becomes a model and a drawing you can quote and build from. That includes tolerances, fits, weld callouts and flat patterns. |
Part and assembly models, drawing PDF, STEP, DXF flat patterns |
Fixtures, tooling and small automationFor small manufacturers |
Weld fixtures, carts, guards, grippers, conveyors and pick-and-place modules. I size the parts, check the loads, and design so the result is simple to make and maintain. |
Assembly and detail drawings, BOM, purchased-part list, sizing calcs |
Design for manufacturingFor hardware founders |
Turn a prototype into metal parts a shop can quote: machined, sheet metal and welded parts with standard hardware, fewer setups and tolerances only where the function needs them. |
Production-ready models, drawings with critical dimensions, a short DFM report |
SOLIDWORKS automationFor engineering teams |
VBA and API macros that take repetitive work off your engineers: one-click PDF/DXF/STEP release, BOM export to Excel or ERP, property cleanup and table-driven configurators. |
Macro source, setup notes, a walkthrough video |
Work
I built these projects myself to show how I work, from the first measurement to the release package. Client work stays confidential.
Worn part to replacement drawing
A worn shaft with no print, measured and redrawn so a machine shop can make a new one.
Sketch to drawing
Weld fixture and cart frame weldment
A tube-frame cart and the modular fixture that holds it square while it's welded.
Fixtures and tooling
Prototype bracket assembly, ready for production
A 3D-printed mount and off-the-shelf brackets redesigned as metal parts a local shop can build.
Design for manufacturing
One-click release package
A macro that checks properties and exports PDF, DXF, STEP and BOM for a whole assembly.

How a job runs
Send what you have
Sketches, photos, a sample part, old prints or a STEP file. Rough is fine.
Get a fixed quote
Within two business days you get a price, a delivery date and any questions I have.
Review the design
You see the model partway through, so changes happen before the drawings, not after.
Receive the package
Native files, drawings and every export you asked for, checked against your requirements.
About
I'm Anthony Ward. I design custom automation equipment for a living: multi-station machines and the mechanisms inside them, taken from first concept through released drawings.
That work has taught me to design parts that shops can actually make, with tolerances that match their function and drawings a machinist doesn't have to call about. I take on a small number of outside projects so each one gets real attention.
